Nice Things: June Edit
DATE
23.06.26
The theme for June is shared experiences.
The cover image is from a 1685 treatise on optics, the same one that gave the world an early blueprint for the magic lantern. Long before screens, before cinema, a room of strangers would gather around a single projected light to watch the same impossible thing appear on a wall. No reason to be there together except that it was happening, and they wanted to see it too.
That's the idea behind this month's list. Not connection through proximity, but through synchrony, being in the same place, at the same time, looking at the same thing as everyone around you, for no better reason than that it's nice.
So here are some FREE NICE THINGS to do in Copenhagen this summer, the kind that put you shoulder to shoulder with people doing the same thing as you, at the same time, on purpose or by accident.

- Swimming by La Banchina. A drink afterwards is on offer, but not a requirement.
- Copenhagen Opera Festival, 13th to 23rd August. Here to prove that Opera isn’t a dead art, there are free events all around town, both classical and experimental.
- A walk through Dyrehaven and Bakken. Deer that have never once cared about the coins in your pockets (only the treats), next to an amusement park older than some countries, with maybe even a ride along the way.
- Of Gardens exhibition on Fejø. Worth the ferry ride on its own, and a small island means you'll likely see the same three people at every stop.
- Kind Design talks. Free, and a rare chance to sit in a room full of people who also overthink kerning. Next one is at our Co-working space Bernies on 1st July!
- Free classical concerts at Ofelia Plads (Thursdays through summer). Bring nothing, expect to share some ear-tingling space with some strangers.
- Free open-air cinema screenings, scattered through June. A whole neighbourhood watching the same film on the same patch of grass.
- Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, 27th June at the Opera House. Watch from the harbour for free, alongside several thousand other people collectively holding their breath for the same dive.
Come back next month for more nice things!
